The first book in her new series, The Protecters NICOLE is based on the series we all love so much, The Protecters...but told from The Mates point of view!! Only Teresa could write a book that had me wanting to kill all my beloved Warriors...while wanting to lick them all over at the same time!! Now that’s the work of a writing MASTER!! NICOLE will have you crying, laughing, cheering for these strong ladies...it will gut you and then put you back together again! The Protecters is my all time favorite series...but I have a feeling The Mates are going to take that favorite spot away from those sexy men if NICOLE is any indication of what the next Mate will bring!! This book is way beyond a five star, must read!!!

Teresa has done it again, she’s drawn me head first back into the world of The Protectors, but this time it’s about their mates. The first book in the series is about Nicole. she’s tough as Damon and she has to be to keep him firmly in his place as her partner and mate. I love that you get to see the whole gang together again and now you get to see those badass women taking charge. If you loved the men in The Protectors you’ll love getting to see life through their mates povs. I have to say from the minute I finished I was ready for more and more. I can’t wait to dig into each of the women’s books and see my gang all over again. Of course there’s love, laughter and moments of hold onto your seat and ride alone. There’s new trouble on the horizon or is it the old, but more powerful than you thought possible. Anyway, grab the book it’s definitely worth the read..

As other people wrote on their reviews, this book seemed short and "rushed" and then just stopped. Teresa Gabelman is my favorite paranormal writer by far, and I love the Protectors series. In this book, it felt like she was trying to stick everybody's name in it, but mostly they did little or nothing. Waiting for the next installment of Protectors.On a different note, I HATED the cover "picture". One of the things I love about the Protectors, you never see their faces on the cover. That sets them apart from almost every other paranormal book I've seen. This drawing of Nicole makes this book feel like it's just one of all of the other thousands and thousands of books out there - it doesn't stand out. Also, having read the originals, this is NOT how I pictured her to look with that "pose" they drew her to have. She was feisty and really cared about her clients who were children. This picture absolutely did NOT portray that. It was like all the other books out there - not special as the Protector series is. Maybe Terese didn't pick the cover - I don't know, but it kind of made me think maybe I shouldn't follow this series. I did read it and it was just OK, but didn't feel the pull of the Protector series at all. I buy pretty much everything Teresa writes I've bought the Protector series in kindle and most of them in paperback too - I even bought an autographed book (Warrior Wedding), but I don't know if I'll read the next one in the Mate series (unless it's free), and I for sure won't be reading this one again. I even deleted it from my library. I've read each of the Protector book several times over the span of time and enjoyed them EVERY time. This story just felt "off". Sorry, but I gave each Protector book 5 stars, I can only give this one 3 stars and I didn't really like it so I probably should have given it 2 stars. I expected a WAY better book from Teresa.

I have read the entire Protector series several times. It never gets old. This new mates series is starting out to be exciting. It digs deeper into the mate’s and the warrior’s hopes and fears. The story shows a different side of them. Don’t get me wrong, the love, fighting, problems, solutions are still there, but it goes the extra mile to show how they love and fight, what the deepest problems are and how they find the solutions. I have several new books waiting to be read, but I think I will go back and re-read the series again! Yea, it’s really that good! Can’t wait for the next book in both the Protector’s and the Mate’s series.

Talk about breathing some life back into this world! Don't get me wrong... I love the guys, but hello ladies!! The inner struggle that Nicole and the other mates deal with feels so relatable. Nice and angsty! I adore Damon in this one, although I really didn't get into his book all that much. The new threat and secondary characters... liking where this is going! However, I would've loved to have more material from Damon's perspective. (( SPOILER))I have to say, I really am loathing Jared and mourning the alpha-maleness we normally see with the "Protectors". It makes me so angry to "watch" Jared's character abusing Tessa, especially after knowing what her character has already endured. Mental and emotional abuse is tragic to go through and heart-breaking to watch/read about. Real men don't abuse women or watch their friends abuse women. I'm pretty positive that Jared's character has become irredeemable for me. I found myself hoping while reading the book that Tessa finds a different mate somehow. (Fingers-crossed)Still... can't wait to read the next in the series! I love The Protectors books and see some real promise with this series for sure. <>

For the aspiring writer of sex-centric fiction, finding a source of sound information and advice can be daunting. Inspiration may be even more difficult to come by; affirmation nigh on to nonexistent. Good general books on the craft and business of writing are plentiful, and many of them are extraordinarily good pieces of writing in their own right. (Stephen King's "On Writing" may well be the best single-volume treatment of the subject.) Such books can be a helpful place to get started. But what about those issues specific to erotica? Where do we go to find out about, say, effective, realistic dialogue in explicit scenes? Where can we learn how to tailor our work to the needs of genre-friendly publishers? More broadly, where can we find encouragement in a world that hates us insofar as it despises anything having to do with sex? Fortunately, the news isn't all gloom and doom; there are a few titles out there just for us. Among the best is Susie Bright's "How to Write a Dirty Story", which by now, some twelve years after its initial publication, has assumed the mantle of a "how-to" classic."How to Write a Dirty Story" is part creative-writing course, part self-help book, and part pep rally. Less formal and more personal than many titles on the subject, this is often more about inspiration than technique. (For a more formally academic treatment of the subject I would recommend Ashley Lister's "How to Write Erotica and Sex Scenes" (2013) or Elizabeth Benedict's "The Joy of Writing Sex" (1996), which focuses on erotic content in literary and mainstream genre fiction.) Bright's style is sympathetic, warm, personable and always engaging, aimed at helping her readers cast off their inhibitions and hang ups, open and expand their erotic imaginations, and take their first steps on the liberating journey of honest self-expression. I can personally attest that her approach works! The best how-to books can, on occasion, change lives, and this one certainly changed mine, encouraging me to get over my guilt and reticence about the sex writing I had been doing in secret for many years, an intense guilty pleasure I never imagined sharing with anyone.Along with a series of exercises for testing and stretching the limits of our imaginations and better visualizing our fantasies, some of Bright's most powerful and valuable insights concern the ways in which a newly inspired and "out" erotic writer deals with the attitudes and reactions of his or her family. Reading this book helps us understand that we must be better than the bigots who despise us; we must outsmart them; out-enlighten them, and out-write them. We cannot--must not--displace one strain of reticence with another equally unhealthy form, because, in the end, silence is death. With some very good, practical advice on the craft of writing to go along with its quiet rabble-rousing, "How to Write a Dirty Story" is a deep, cool wellspring of experience, wisdom, and bracing encouragement. Wholeheartedly recommended

I will begin by saying Bright is one of my favorite people. She was a groundbreaker in the 90s when it came to pretty much sex-positive anything and especially women's sexuality. And How to Write a Dirty Story was a valuable book - when it was first published. Bright really needs to update her work, since it addresses very little of the present-day publishing (especially e-publishing) marketplace. The book also suffers from a split personality: it contains "how to" content on both writing and publishing erotica. Better, I think, to focus on one or the other. Having said the foregoing, if a would-be writer is lost in the woods and needs a practicum in the basics, this is not a bad place to start. Bright's workbook exercises are effective (and applicable to creative writing of any type.) Readers could be spared some of the really bad erotica in the marketplace if those authors had only read Bright's book before they wrote their own.

While I've only recently read four books on this subject, this is the one I found most helpful. It was obviously written by an articulate, motivational expert teacher of the subject. Usually, I'm happy to come away from a book of non-fiction with a useful idea or two. Not so with this guidebook. In this one I picked up very helpful tips in every chapter and often in every paragraph of each chapter. In 1974, the "Boston Phoenix" dubbed the author of this book the "goddess of American erotica." She's not lost her much deserved title since that time. She encourages the reader "to look at the Contents pages and skip around the chapters according to your interests...Discover how writing affects your own sex life, or get cracking on your publishing strategy. Consider this the erotic artist's Scout Manual." Because each short chapter can stand alone, and are only a few pages long, it's very possible to read the book on the subway, while having lunch, while riding the exercise bike at the gym (that's where I read it), or even while waiting for the bus without missing the events, or your stop, going on around you as you read. But do read it all. The material is distilled, pithy and to the point. The information reverberates with the ring of truth. And true to her claims the volume is very practical, is also an "inspirational book," "a book of Agitation and Propaganda" and "a Sex Book." For readers such as I, who have written some erotica in secret, even if only in diary form, this book will help us all come out of the closet. The chapter "What's Going to Happen to Your Sex Life" is one of my favorites both for correctness and for inspiration. It's not at all politically correct and says things in no uncertain terms. There is no beating around the bush in this guide. "This `tuning in' to the sexual world is, in itself, erotic. You fantasies will become infected with your vivid realizations. Your lover(s) will see a change in you. If your're satisfied with your present love life, it will be enhanced, if you're sick of it, your unhappiness will be a lot harder to hide." "For some erotic writers, storytelling is the dress rehearsal for scenes they are hungry to enact in real life. For other authors, the fantasy on paper is as good as it gets: they don't want to take it further. Real life, in their case would be anticlimactic." Ditto for the readers of erotica. They are searching for something and our prudish society has made it very difficult to discover and experience that longing via the written word. Obviously I liked the advice in this self-help book. If you are a potential writer of erotica, this tome will build a fire under you, help you shed your own inhibitions and maybe even eventually bring your own special fantasies to life for each of us to share and enjoy. This book is a "glory hole" of rich ore. And it's a lot easier to get than panning forGold in the icy cold creeks of California or Alaska. This book is a treasure map. It will help the reader discover and understand themselves much better. That enlightenment will greatly improve your life. Well done, Goddess.

If you live in the Cincinnati area, this is a good historical overview of the Cincinnati Park System and how it came to be. There are lots of pictures of the parks and the people who had the vision to make it happen.Another great book from Arcadia Publishing found on Amazon is "Lunken Airfield". However, my favorite is "Cincinnati Union Terminal" published by the Cincinnati Railroad Club.

Violence of Action is a book written about the men that lived through war, by men who lived through war and edited by men who lived through war. And that's who I'm describing when I say eloquent and beautiful. The men.

I served with 1st Batt/75th Ranger Regiment between 92 and 96. I knew that the regiment had undergone a significant change but I didn't realize how much it had changed since I left. It is really cool to hear how the regiment has evolved during the GWOT. But it is even better to hear how things stay the same such as dark ranger humor and how each ranger would lay down their life for their ranger buddy.This is a great read and I suggest it for anyone that is a military buff.

While the stories are basically a decade after I left 2nd Ranger Battalion, many of them are similar to my experiences in Batt in the mid 90's. I did not have the long term combat deployments described in the book, and we had a decidedly different set of support weapons and equipment, and most importantly, we had black berets, the people in the Regiment have not changed much from my time.Reading this book is close to sitting around and BSing with your old military buddies. Even if you did not serve, anyone with an interest in real life combat stories will like this book.I really cannot express in words the courage and fortitude demonstrated in this book. Both in the acts described, and in the personal strength it took for the authors to share some of these stories. Ranger lead the way!

Very powerful! The stories are told with so much raw emotion and brutal truth in the voices of our nation's heroes, for these men are real Heroes! They literally are willing to sacrifice their lives for each other and for our country, and so many have done just that--made the ultimate sacrifice. We will never be able to repay them for everything they do to keep our nation and citizens safe. We will never be able to repay the sacrifice their families make, either. These are the best of the best! Their bravery is astounding, shocking and unparalleled. They are highly intelligent and skilled operators, but they are not machines. They are humans, with hearts and feelings, compassion, incredible dedication, loyalty and love--yes Love! They are a Brotherhood with a love and loyalty for our nation and for one another that is incomparable. They deserve our respect and so much more. These stories will stay with me for as long as I live. I was deeply moved and profoundly changed by this book. I am a veteran (not combat) USAF retired.

I am always amazed by the strength of character, fortitude, courage, bravery & determination of servicemen such as the Rangers of the 75th. Regiment.When their individual abilities are then honed by extreme educational, physical & supportive training, a soldier emerges at the pinnacle of his profession.The individual recollections recorded in this book reflect that of Rangers in Iraq & Afghanistan. The pressure of the frequent life-threatening tasks is always relieved by sleep, humour & alcohol. It is not just the patrol contacts & E & E episodes, but the emotional impact of Ranger mates being KIA or WIA, & the manner in which it occurred.What is unusual, but very welcome, is the moving recollections of the mother of a Ranger, KIA.She shares the grief & emotional distress in coping with the death of her Ranger son.It should be recognised, that the families of returned veterans also suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.It is this type of book that I would advise all people who have not experienced military service to read. Perhaps then, they would appreciate the personal qualities required to overcome adversity & succeed in achieving their designated objectives.‘’Rangers Lead the Way’’

I felt the fear, nearly puked, and celebrated the small wins alongside the big ones. These soldiers tell their story, from their perspective with honesty and forthrightness. The language is true to the soldier; it is not gratuitous though.I want this kind of book to tell the story truthfully and with personality, Violence of Action meets that want.
