This book picks up right where The Jewel left off and it gets going immediately. It is nonstop the whole time and I loved the pace of the book. There were no lulls or downtime and everything that happened was an integral part of the story. I enjoyed The Jewel but I reallllly enjoyed The White Rose.I really like Violet as a character and I like how she has grown over the two books. She has grown into a strong character and I love her determination to fight and I love her loyalty to her friends even more. But I also love that she is realistic in that she does have doubts and moments where she doesn’t think she can do it and this is where the importance of her friends comes in. Because when she doubts herself, they are there to help pick her up and keep her going.I also really came to love Ash in this book and their relationship. I really got the sense that while this is still new to them, they do love each other and their actions proved that beyond a doubt. Both of them have had rough lives and they understand that in one another. I also loved that they did argue and disagree, but those arguments never caused such a rift that they doubted one another, at the end of it all they knew they had one another. I love that Ash wants to fight and make a difference and I felt terrible when people continually overlooked him. But his time is coming, I can feel it.And then we have Raven and Garnet. Raven is such a fantastic character and I adore her friendship with Violet. I am a big supporter of positive female friendships in YA and that is exactly what Violet and Raven have. And Garnet surprised me in this one and I’m definitely a big fan. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in the series. Oh and Lucien. Lucien on the other hand is on my last nerve, I don’t care how smart he is or what he is doing, I wanna smack him.Like I said, this one just keeps going from beginning to end and I really enjoyed that. And then the ending just drops on a dime and will leave you reeling for the next book. Waiting is really going to suck.The White Rose is a good read and will keep readers addicted. If you want nonstop action, good characters, magic, and a truly dark and twisted world you should give this series a read.

I had to re-read the first book to remind myself of what was going to happen in this one. At least I THOUGHT I had to. White Rose definitely repeats just enough (but not to the point of annoyance) that I was reminded of what happened.SPOILERSThe characters:Violet becomes a little annoying in this series. She sounds whiney and for some reason, entitled. Things just have to be the way she wants. For example, after Violet and Ash are caught in his room (tell me again why she didn't just stay put after Carnelian caught her coming out of the hidden door?). Anyway, her life is in danger. She's been told she will help bring down the Royalty and yet when someone is trying to save her life, she just HAS to do one more thing. At two separate times, her own distractable mind almost gets her caught.Ash has more of a story in this book and I was glad about it. He seems to be the level headed one in many instances. But, he's also full of "woe is me" moments. He has what I call a Violet moment when he just HAS to, MUST do something that nearly gets them all killed. He knows his father is a scoundrel. He knows his dad will sell him out for the right price and he still puts not just himself, but Violet and Raven in harms way. Overall Ash is likeable. I just wish he would stop with the "I was a companion but I am a person too dang it!" lines.Garnet comes through in the clutch again and again. Go figure! I would love to see a Garnet novella because his involvement seems to come out of nowhere. He goes from seeing the Surrogates and everyone NOT Royalty as furniture (a line used way too often in this series) to being basically the hero. At what point did he join the cause? Why? I can't figure out if his drunk kid act was just an act or was it real? It seems the author can't decide either.Carnelian seems to be that girl that everyone makes excuses for and therefore she will never learn how to just grow up. Her presence really is just there to progress the story but it'd be interesting to see if she plays a role in the uprising in later books. Amy should consider this.I didn't like Lucien too much in this book. He knows what the Royalty does to the Surrogates and yet he pisses on Ash constantly. Seems out of character.Sil is someone that you love and can't stand at the same time. I do love how she takes charge of the girls. I also wish she would have explained the history a lot sooner. Some things are still unclear. Maybe there will be another reveal in later books?The Story:I skipped ALOT of paragraphs in this book because it seemed to be all filler and padding. The story had a lot of potential but it was broken by all the description of...well, everything. Every outfit was described, every gust of wind, every blink. Every complaint and teenage moan/groan. Skipping all of that did not leave me wondering how we got from A to D at all. Some elements came out of nowhere or took too long to develop - like the tattoo parlor. Just say that's what it was instead of describing how it looked. I think most readers will be able to picture the interior of a tattoo parlor without help. It still has a lot of potential, and I did enjoy it overall. I'm sticking to it until the last in the series.

You should have a copy of one of the translations of the Book of Concord, also.This book covers the portions of the Lutheran Book of Concord in chronological order and provides the background and story of the conferences and other circumstances that produced each work.My Pastor is currently leading a Bible study on the Book of Concord, and he is covering the material thematically rather than portion by portion (such as, for instance, he tracks material on Baptism throughout the various portions rather than covering The Augsburg Confession by itself and then the Apology to the Augsburg Confession by itself, and the Smalcald Articles by themselves, etc).I have been really searching for good information on each portion and its history because I have still been confused by the difference between, say, the Augsburg Confession and the Smalcald Articles.When I finish all 600 or so pages of this work (and this book is informative and interesting enough that I will finish), I will know a substantial amount about each portion and will be able to distinguish one from another, which is a big step for me.There are many, many interesting quotations from letters and statements by those attending the conferences and other events that produced the documents in the Book of Concord. It is amazing that so much material such as so many letters from the participants still exists. The author did an immense amount of research to dig it all up and quote from it. To some extent, the reader gets to know the participants who are historically important in the history of Lutheran Christianity and the stands that they took on the various doctrinal controversies of the day.I am very happy that I found this book on Amazon. 10 Years ago, I fractured my right ankle and my balance remains a bit off. Migraines also contribute to a lack of balance at times. This book helps with exercises to better my balance. I like it.

Just received my book and hope it will help us create a safe home environment as we approach our 70's.

FALL PREVENTION was a good book. It reminded me of all the routines I did with my PHYSACAL THEROPSTS over the years. I have MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS and I am 61 so I fall a lot. I will use the book to help train my support group on how to avoid falls.Also retrain my self.

This book is definitely a winner. Having spent a lot of time working with an older population, I'm always searching for a manual that clients will actually enjoy reading on their own. Oftentimes, coverage of this material is dry at best, which is unfortunate, because it is such an important topic. However, the team of Davies and Scully seem to write with the reader in mind--there are cute illustrations, it's easy to navigate, and the reader really learns a lot of simple exercises and techniques. I would definitely recommend it as a must read for anyone who has ever felt concerned for theirs--or a loved ones--balance, etc.

Dr. Krishan Mahajan has been amicus curiae of the Supreme Court of India in the cases of the Taj Mahal, the tombs of Ghalib, Zauq and the mausoleum of Nizammudin Auliya. His doctoral work on the Protection of Monuments of National Importance, legal village field studies on land reforms, women home workers, bonded labour, leprosy patients, carcass flayers has given him an insight into the reality of public law culture. The operational court and judicial culture experience comes from his work as a senior Central Government counsel at the Supreme Court. The learning of the political economy of the law comes from his private practice on contracts, banking, corporate, criminal, environmental, intellectual property, taxation, revenue, land, labour and service laws across courts in India. His experience of the alternative culture of the law comes from his conciliation, negotiation and mediation works as a Supreme Court trained and certified mediator as also from his private practice in arbitration. The linkage of education, information and culture is derived from his experience as a consultant of the National Human Rights Commission and of several universities. This has been reflected in his writings as a Journalist For Europe in Paris, in the weekly legal columns in The Hindustan Times, in academic journals and papers of international conferences and as the pan-India Law editor of The Indian Express. The law and politics interaction was experienced by him in the drafting of Parliamentary Bills and notifications for several Union Government Ministries. The academic foundation for this was his law and economics training in Delhi University which was developed further as the Sterne Fellow of the Columbia Law School, U.S.A and a Fellow of the Japan Foundation. His teaching forte has been law and culture as the Dean of the National Law School, Odisha and as a Professor at the National Law School, Patiala. Presently, he is the Additional Registrar and Controlling Officer of the Supreme Court’s Centre for Research & Planning and continues his learning of legal culture.
