Yes, it just came out and I really did finish it that fast. This book is that good. Even better than the Kremlin Conspiracy. The worst case scenario of what if Iran really did buy nukes from N Korea? The scenario is perfectly wargamed out. The hero has to go from the frying pan to the fire. In a catch 22. I didn't want to put the book down because I had to find out what happened next. It slows down for just a bit just to speed right back up. Like riding in Blackhawk helicopter. The perfect flow. That's all I'm going to say. I hate reviews that spoil the story.

I have enjoyed everyone of Joel Rosenberg's books but this one is the best one I have read - I had a terrible time putting it down and finally admitted to myself that I might as well accept that I wasn't going to accomplish much of anything else until I finished reading it. I also had a personal interest in reading it as my ex-husband (who was a career Army officer) was stationed in Tehran, Iran in 1978 so he, our children and I were living there at the time that the country was literally falling apart - the Shah left about a month after the children and I were evacuated back to the United States. My ex was still there when the Shah left and the Ayatollah Khomeini arrived in country. If you are into reading an international book full of intrigue, I recommend strongly that you get your hands on this one.

Please don’t ever stop writing. I’ve read all your books and am impatiently waiting for the next one. What’s Ryker going to do next. I wish everyone in government, local, state, and federal would read Rosenberg’s books, take the potential realities to heart, and then DO something. I think the future of our country and the world depend on it.

I love all of Joel Rosenberg's books that he has written. Just got this book a few days ago and I am sure I woon't be disappointed. Wish Joel would go his books made into movies. They are so good that Christians and none Christians would enjoy them

I have always been impressed with Joel's ability to tell a good story but I would have liked to read more about Markus and followup on his life after the final battle; perhaps maybe introduce striking up a relationship with one of the lady characters he worked with throughout the novel or seeing his friend finally come to Christ. I couldn't help but feel sad for him and all his losses of family and close friends and no real resolution to finish the end of the book. The ending seemed abrupt like Joel wasn't allowed to continue because of publishing deadlines or whatever. A post script of Markus's life would have made for a better close than just ending after the final battle.

As always I could not put the book down! Joel takes us on a ride like no other author can. This book was so good and so scary considering our current world events! Thank you Joel for your amazing work and talent!

I've read every Joel Rosenberg book published. The hardest part is finishing one and waiting for the next release. Fantastic.

Lots of action and an interesting plot. Concieable. Characters are so-so. Not developed well. Loose ends left hanging. Ending is a cop out. Not Rosenbergs usual quality

As a homeschool mom, I have to say the John Bunyan books are a wonderful addition to our home library! The Holy War is a great read-aloud for the family and perfect for long discussions about the deeper meaning woven throughout the text.This is a classic Christian book that is probably geared more for older students and adults, but with a bit of guidance, can be easily used for the younger family members as well. As a matter of fact, I've found that they soak up more than we realize when reading out loud.John Bunyan is an eloquent and descriptive writer whose imagination is only overshadowed by his love for the Lord - both characteristics come through loud and clear in this updated version of the book. If you liked Pilgrim's Progress, you will love this story!

"The Holy War" is an allegorical tale of how the town of Mansoul deals with the deceptions and attacks of Diabolus and his demon cohorts. I've read this story three times in the original, once as a read-aloud to my children.Now, I understand Bunyan was attempting to make a point, but it bothered us how Emmanuel promises the Mansoulians he'll never leave them, but when they get distracted and don't give him the attention he wants, he withdraws to his father's palace. It was because of this that the children sympathized more with Diabolus than with Emmanuel. Under Diabolian rule, the Mansoulians are prosperous and happy. Then Emmanuel comes along and makes them jump through hoops to keep his favor. Where's the grace in that?But I love this book and how it makes you think. E.g., Feel Gate is the weakest gate in the city. And where do our doubts plague us most but in our feelings? We know better; we believe otherwise; but those pesky feelings can really throw our faith for a loop.As far as this updated edition goes, when I was reading the original to my children, there were times I had to pause and paraphrase what Bunyan meant. A modernized version might have made it easier. Either way, it's a good book.

This is an excellent allegory on the battle we face as we wrestle with God. We can be certain of one thing as we walk with Christ we are to be prepared for battle.This book was a moving reminder of the battle The Lord fought to wrestle me into His kingdom.It also reminds me of the importance of wrestling in prayer for the souls of others.

Loved this book as much as Pilgrim's Progress. The allegorical metaphors bring these concepts to life.

Interesting book for any1 who wants to read about the reality of the devil’s intent to enslave.

Excellent good read.

I liked Pilgrim’s Progress when I read it years ago. I love The Holy War! It is a beautiful, exciting and scriptural allegory of the Savior’s pursuit and providence of His church. In my opinion this is Bunyan’s opus.

I love the challenge. It is fun to do places you have visited on vacation. These books are fun for the old as well as the young!

The title of these dot-to-dot books should give you an idea of how many dots are on a page....a lot! And of course that means the numbers are going to be very small. I appreciate some of the other reviewers stating that these can be difficult and take some time to complete, but some of the negative reviews are pretty harsh and sound like they are just written by a bunch of grumpy people with no patience.To sum it up:It's a lot of dots.The numbers are very small.It takes some time to complete.This is not a My Little Pony dot-to-dot.The finished product is amazing.Don't be turned off by the negative reviews. Good thing Amazon reviews didn't exist in the 1800s when folks were moving West, we never would have gotten past the Mississippi River: "The wagon ride is harsh and the days are long. 2 mules died and we ran out of potatoes. I wish I had stayed home in my log cabin in Virginia. I give this trip 1 star".These are fantastic, challenging dot-to-dots that are great for passing the time....especially if you're in a wagon going West.

I've been trying to get my daughter to stay off screen for some time now. Nothing has worked! My 10 year old wanted this for Christmas after she saw her friend doing it. She was so happy when she saw the package. Out of all the Christmas presents that she got this year, this was the one that she spent most time with. It's not just one of those presents where kids play with it for 2 days and leave, once you do it, you will be hooked!I recommend this for any kids that loves STEM or logical thinking. It's funny, my 12 year old, after seeing her sister do it, wanted to do one too. In one sentence, I love it, she loves it, it's a win-win to me. I'm really enjoying this book. I was concerned with reading the reviews about the "tiny numbers"--but I'm not sure what some folks expected with 1,000 dots?? It's a lot of numbers. They're going to be small. I do all of my coloring, arts and crafts with readers, so this was not an adjustment for me. It's quite helpful that Mr. Pavitte used different colors for the numbers--it would be maddening if not! I agree with another reviewer that a wider nibbed pen or pencil makes the final outcome look better. I used a high quality, sturdy graphite pencil and pressed down relatively hard. Although I didn't erase ( the erase marks would show), I liked the steady feel of a good pencil over any pens I tried. If you intend to frame a piece, however, I would definitely use a medium-heavier point marker like his samples show.Some tips that might help:-I'd suggest tearing a page out (they're perforated) and experimenting on the first one to see what instrument you'd like to use and get a feel for the pictures. Tearing out is a MUST! You'll be turning the page a ton.-Use a small straight edge. Even with a still hand, which I have, it helps a lot! The pictures are very forgiving. There are so many lines, If you make a mistake, simply start at the last number and carry on. You won't find the error at the end!-I read somewhere that they can be completed in an hour. I believe that's a bit quicker than most. Do them at a pace you are comfortable with.-Do yourself a favor--when you take a break, put a post it note in the corner with where you left off. You'll save yourself several (or more) minutes of--"where was I??"I will definitely purchase one of his other books. They are challenging enough to hold my interest. Many of the others seem too simple for my taste. The only reason I gave the book 4 stars was that a handful of the images were a bit dull, despite them being of amazing cities. Since they were primarily buildings, I think other places like LA, with the Hollywood sign, perhaps Hawaii, etc. would have been more fun than a few of them. Many of the images are brilliant though--well worth the money! Adult colorists are a perfect match for this book.

Love these. The numbers are small, so I keep a magnifying glass near when I do them. Makes discovering where that next number is hiding, because it isn't always where you think it will be. Isn't that the point? Color coded numbers make it easy to stay on the right sequence. I am near-sighted so doing these without my glasses is a plus. But don't do these for longer than about 20 minutes at a time, because it will blur your distance vision later. I am 60 years old. These are absorbing in a way that pushes the every day stress away, in a similar way to a crossword puzzle or a coloring book, with less fuss and thought. Relaxing and the artwork is nice when you are done. I've heard some people go on to add color to their work, but I don't think I'm going to be one of those.

I found it very informative!

I have been a puller for almost 20 years, it is a confusing and debilitating disorder. I have prayed and prayed for God to deliver me from this, and just to be normal. I decided to give this book a try, and I just got through the first chapter, and am astounded at the insight to this disorder the author has, It has already given me a level of empowerment over this that I have never had before. This is definately a MUST HAVE for any and all trich sufferers!! I am looking forward to using all the tools available in the book to regain my life, hair and eyelashes!!!!

Book is very helpfull, while you read it it will assist you in identifying when the pulling takes place and the triggers. In the first 3 weeks I am pulling about 90% less just by being aware of it.
