So, I searched for books on talk radio program production and found nothing interesting but this book.Perhaps it sits alone on the shelf because present day producers are not interested in spreading the word and the resulting competition.THIS BOOK IS OUTSTANDING! The authors have more than two decades of experience as producers of talk and phone-in programs. It was a fabulous way for me to update my experience (even though the book is a few years old, the information is very timely). I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning how producers help to keep show hosts in the-know and out of trouble and anyone interested in a career in radio.

If you listen to the radio and ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes, this book is for you. The authors provide an often humorous description of the day to day activities that are done to bring the listener must-hear radio. Even the technical chapters were written in a way that somebody like me who has no connection to radio (other than listening) could understand and find interesting. Whether you are in the broadcasting field or just interested in radio, this book is well worth purchasing. The book was enjoyable to read and it gives the reader a new appreciation for what happens behind the scenes to bring the listener a good radio show.

I'm not really that familiar with radio production, but am more interested in the creative process in general, and I found this to be a worthwhile and engaging read. The writers are entertaining and personable, and make everything that they talk about exciting and interesting to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

As a radio producer for many years, this book shed light on various aspects of my work then that made me a better radio producer. From booking studio guests, to organising gameshows with all the logistics involved.

Great thought out book for anyone getting into a Radio Producer role. Unfortunately i was paid minimum wage to work from 5-8am on a radio show.

Someone called it "the Radio Producer's Bible" I think I now understand why. Not just for producers but for on-air talent.

From what I have read so far, they explain all details about the in's and out's of producing your own show. I have learned many things so far as well it confirms what I already do. Well done and put together.

While I thought the detail was very complete, I think the beginning is slightly out of date. Thanks enjoyed the work!

It is funny how you go to the doctor and they have nothing to offer but surgery and this book has actually got things to be tried to heal the ailment! I am glad that someone out there has more ideas than the current medical practice, however, I have also tried a lot of other things with no success so far, but the man who wrote this book actually explained things to the people like me that are not so medico-savvy! He has ideas I have never heard of!

I might modify my rating if I actually complete reading this book. I am attempting to read the Kindle version and the ridiculous number of typos is beyond irritating. The author's credentials lead you to believe the it should be worthwhile but it seems to have been ghost written by an elementary school student in the U.S. public school system. I expect better from Amazon for ten bucks.

I bought this book caused by my wife starting to have pains in her wrists, and have been put on to a Surgery in the start of next year. But by reading books to, if possibly, find ways to solve the problem without Surgery. As we say: "Cause and Effect". This year its 30 years since I during the Engineering education as the first project wrote, and made many drawings about Ergonomic, in connection with working positions. So I've tried to explain to my wife what she is doing wrong, but in wane, as she is having her habits from before I met her 11 years ago. The doctor who actual are put on for the Surgery, 6 years ago, when he in connection with a Bone Marrow Surgery, by the right Hand, saw my Ergonomic project, from back in 1982, asked for a copy, and then got one including a translating from Danish to English. He is a teaching Professor.This is a thin, but very detailed, book, and it all together contains 69 excellent small drawing and photos.In the first chapter, "Nerve Problems in the Neck, Shoulder, Arms, and Hands", we are having 3 drawings. Of these one is showing a Hand, with the Carpal Tunnel, and on another we from the front are watching the Shoulder-Neck. These two drawings are equal to x-ray pictures so that we get the parts we read about and get their names.In the chapter 2, "The Anatomy of Nerve Injury", we again, on side 18, are having 2 more drawings with partial anatomy. The first drawing this time watches the Neck and Shoulder from the right side, again with the positions of most Nerves. And as the second drawing we are having the exploded right Arm, again most concerning the Nerves, so we don't se the Muscles.On side 23 starts the chapter 3, "Treatment Modalities and How to Use Them". In this chapter we have 15 pictures showing most of the different mentioned treatments probability in action, or the actual tools. And we on these 16 sides, in subparts, are learning about these treatments, which actual are: "Hot Packs", "Hot Towels", "Warm Water Soaks or Warm Whirlpool", "Paraffin", "Fluidotherapy", "Ultrasound", "Electrical Modalities", "High-Voltage Stimulation", "Iontophoresis", "Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation", "Cold Applications", "Cold Pack and Ice Packs", "Iced Towels", "Cold Water Soaks and Whirlpools", "Contrast Baths", "Ice Massage", and "Meditations". I personally during life have tried some of these treatments, for example back in 1962, as teenager, after a nerve surgery in one hand, tried Paraffin. And 5 years ago, here in Thailand, after breaking the right arm tried Ultrasound, and Acupuncture, as I couldn't activate my arm and hand. This before there was time for me in the hospitals for measuring the Nerves, and when it came to this, it then showed up that the nerves was cut over in the shoulder.On side 39 starts the chapter 4, "A Nerve Sliding Program" containing 23 drawing connected to the text telling which Position and Movements to do. The first section starts with common information about "Nerve Sliding", and after this we get the section "Brachial Plexus Sliding" in which we have 7 drawings with the Positions we learn about in the writings. Then follow "Radial Nerve Sliding" cowering 2 sides with 5 drawings. And finally we have the "Ulnar Nerve Sliding", first with "Series 1: Sliding the ulnar nerve distally, or through the lower arm and hand", with 3 drawings, and after this follow "Series 2: Sliding the ulnar nerve proximally-above the level of the elbow", on 2 sides and with 4 drawings. And as the last part in this chapter then "Series 3: Median nerve sliding", with 4 drawing, 3 of which only are showing activation for the Right Hand.Chapter 5, "Soft Tissue Stretching" that starts on side 53, is containing 6 drawing, each closely connected to these subparts in the chapter: "Start position", "Lateral neck stretch", "Shoulder rolls", "Anterior neck stretches", "Neck rotation", and "Chin tucks".Chapter 6, "Posture Do's and Don'ts" contain 4 drawing. The subparts in the chapter are: "Sitting posture", "Driving" (of course when sitting in a car), and "Sleeping". Two sides and 1 drawing concerning Sleeping, and of course telling which Sleeping Position that is good and which is bad with respect to the Arms, the Wrist, and the Carnal Tunnel.On side 65 begins the chapter 7, "Creating a Comfortable Workplace", which contains 8 drawings and 1 photo. In the first part, "Your Computer Screen, Keyboard, and Mouse", we have a drawing showing the Hands positioned on the Keyboard and the Mouse, and having the Table, Keyboard, and Mouse correctly positioned a bit lover than the Elbows. Then follows: "Your Chair", "Armrests", "Foot Position", with 2 drawings, the first one showing a 6-way adjustable Chair, and the second showing the actual part of a person sitting on such a chair, and by a table with a Keyboard and with the Legs and Feet correctly positioned. Correctly but quit different from the correct position if we for example are sitting in a school and writing on a paper. After this follow "Workstation Props", with 3 drawings concerning persons and working tools position in connection to the Computer Screen. Then follow "Lifestyle Changes", under which we first have the subparts "Working With Tools", and have a picture showing 7 changed working Tools, among other a Hammer, and some Pencils. Next follow "Lifting and Carrying" with 2 drawing concerning lifting a box. And the chapter 7 finishes with, "Overuse", and "Be Your Own Advocate".Chapter 8 with the title "Effective Splints and How to Use Them" contains 8 photos showing 10 Splints. And he among other writes about how a Splint that during the night stretch out the Arm and the Hand and thereby relaxing the Nerves, by not having movement friction, and having the best position, can help much.Chapter 9, "Meditation, Biofeedback, Yoga, and Tai Chi", having 4 sides containing the subparts "Meditation ", "Yoga and Tai Chi", and "Alternative and Complementary Treatments".Then follow chapter 10, "A Home-Based Exercise and Healing Program", in which he among other writes about regular Walking, Tai Chi and Yoga.Following we have the chapter 11, "How to Set Up Your Own Home Therapy Center", in which he also writes about making own training tool, but for example not to make electrical Tools if not having been educated in Electricity. And the last 2 ½ sides with title "How You can Develop an Individualized, In-Home Therapy Program", we during the Step one to Step eight, we are getting different advises.And on the side 95 starts the 2 ½ sides chapter "A Final Thought", in which we again, among other read about Sauna, Whirlpool, Paraffin, Exercise, and Surgery, but besides the Epson salt is mentioned. As remark, my chiropractor, who works on my right hand and arm, yesterday said that we no longer use Paraffin. But I put my doubt on this remark, and still would like to try it.Again it's an excellent book, and still I try to learn my wife to change some of her bad habits in the kitchen and in the garden, instead of having a Surgery, witch probably not if she still after the Surgery continue with bad working habits.

I am only through the first chapter so far and the author seems to know what he is talking about but this book has a ridiculous amount of misspellings to the point where it gets confusing and hard to read. It is blatantly obvious this book wasn't edited and it is too bad because it kills the authors credibility a bit for me. I'm going to continue trying to decipher this book and hope I get something out of it since I spent the money on it.

The kindle version of this book has so many typos that it is completely unreadable. These include many formatting, spelling and word substitution errors. For $10 a download you would think that they could afford to hit spellcheck.

Professor Plaskow is an intellect and thinker of the first order. Although the book was written some time ago, it remains an iconic contribution to Jewish feminist thought. At a more mundane level, the book's condition was as if it was new.

Amazing how relevant this book is today.

A classic Jewish feminist text!

I was very surprised when I started reading it. I expected an honest feminist book, and what I got was a very angry and reactionary collection of memories based on neither my experience of Judaism or of feminism. I am willing to admit that Plaskow differed from me in her experience, but the level of invective and vitriol seems to be uncalled for.

I was glad to get this book! It was in fine condition and came in a timely fastion. I will be glad to buy form this seller again. Angela Miller

Judith Plaskow (born 1947) is Professor of Religious Studies at Manhattan College, a co-founder of The Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, and Past President of the American Academy of Religion. She has also written/edited books such as The Coming of Lilith: Essays on Feminism, Judaism, and Sexual Ethics, 1972-2003,Sex, Sin, and Grace: Women's Experience and the Theologies of Reinhold Niebuhr and Paul Tillich,Weaving the Visions: New Patterns in Feminist Spirituality, etc.She wrote in the Introduction to this 1990 book, "The subject of this book is feminist Judaism. Exploring the implications of women's increasing involvement in naming and shaping the Jewish tradition, it asks what might happen to the central categories of Jewish thought as women enter into the process of defining them... The commitment that underlies this book is precisely a commitment to creating a new Jewish situation, to making a feminist Judaism a reality."She observes that Jewish feminists "dwell in a state of self-contradiction that can be escaped only by choosing between aspects of our identity." (Pg. ix) She identifies her central reason for writing a Jewish feminist theology as "to articulate one version of this vision and to foster its growth." (Pg. 23-24) She suggests that since women have been traditionally excluded from halakhic (law) argument, "excluded from the spiritual path of legal study and argument, women might have developed other avenues to God more fully." (Pg. 66)While she rejects the notion of a supernatural deity "who singles out a particular people," she argues that to reject this idea of God is not to reject the God "who is met in community and wrestled with in history," nor does it deny that loyalty to God which has been at the center of Jewish identity. (Pg. 104)She suggests bringing women's experience to the naming of God, to continue the "long process of Jewish Godwrestling that demands of each generation that it search for and speak its own symbols, standing again at Sinai with the consciousness of today." (Pg. 136)Plaskow's book is a stimulating and challenging invitation to rethink many traditional ideas, and should be of considerable interest to anyone interested in contemporary spirituality, particularly as expressed in the Jewish tradition.

It was in a far better condition than I was expecting it doesnt even look like the spine of the book was ruined. It also got in a quick amount of time.

It is factual without being overly graphic and depicts her whole life, thus giving scope of all Helen Keller overcame. I am looking forward to introducing him to Braille and sign language as mention in the biography. Excellent depiction of an amazing woman and the people who helped her.

Helen Keller's story inspired me as a young girl. I am so glad I can now share this story with my son. My son is in fourth grade, but if your child reads very well this book could definitely be read by younger readers. This story is also a great way to teach children about accepting others, as well as overcoming the various limitations that life puts on us.

This book series is perfect for my students! I especially like the fact that there are quite a few interesting, educational options in this series, and not just narrative options.

After watching a cartoon on Helen Keller, my daughter (2nd grade) was intrigued by the story of Helen Keller. So I purchased this book for her. She finished it in a matter of minutes, but she did enjoy the read and pictures. Great starter book.

This little book, number two in the series blew me away, just like the first. I am a Harvard student of Tibetan Buddhism, yet I find these theoretically "silly" little books to be some of the most profound & moving Buddhist texts I've read. Mickie does a wonderful job with sense of place. I feel as if I've lived in McLeod Ganj myself! When people in the story meet the Dalai Lama and find tears of joy running down their cheeks, I cry too, remembering how profoundly moving it was to be in his presence among several thousand others at a few teachings I've attended. It felt as if he was smiling and speaking directly to me. Mickie captures that sense of spontaneous, reverent, hopeful happiness just beautifully. Best of all, these stories are like Jatakas stories for the modern age. They make so many Buddhist concepts accessible & easily understandable. I burst into tears so many times as Snow Lion/HHC realized something helpful while I was doing just the same. The things this book says to your Self are timeless, yet modern, and every time I pick it up I am moved to discover it saying just what I needed to hear, just when I needed to hear it. Thank you, David Michie, for a wonderful, accessible, modern addition to the Dharma!

The Dalai Lama's Cat is an outstanding read! I must say, initially I was not compelled to read this book. In fact, it travelled with me to Arizona and to Missouri with only a few pages read. What happened on the long plane ride home was simply not a coincidence. I fidgeted in my seat, Wi-Fi wasn't offered, my neighbor was drinking heavily, and I couldn't get situated--until I picked up the book and buried my head in the pages. After a few more pages, I was hooked!You might NOT be a cat person, it's okay--don't let the name of this book deter you, and if you are a cat person--rejoice and turn the pages.Wow, advise on happiness and living life in a novel that is filled with stories (within the story). Engaging daily situations that teach from the author's perception of the Dalai Lama's beliefs, or more specifically Buddhism. The book is also a pure example of learning through stories--so pleasant to have those `aha' moments shown in tale versus telling in a non-fiction instructional guide.The tale (tail) begins with a kitten that is saved from the slums of New Delhi. A visual any reader can gain from the trailer of the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Am I shallow to say the hints throughout the book about famous people visiting the Dalai Lama kept me guessing and more than interested? Maybe a little, but I found it fascinating. Sharing the Dalai Lama's teachings within life's moments as seen through the eyes of the cat (who also learns from each happening!) and always on topics the reader can relate to. Although the work is fiction, I believe, the author, David Michie has an understanding of Buddhism, and does a fabulous job of spinning his tale with relevance toward today's times. Bravo! Well done.In the early stages of the book a nun discusses her visit to a prison (this is when I became hooked) and how an inmate had a conversation with her and compared her own living situation with his. Ultimately, the inmate informed the nun, `if it all gets too hard' she could live with them. The nun was astonished that the inmate viewed the conditions in the nunnery harsher than his conditions in jail. And the Dalai Lama made a simple statement, "It's not the circumstances of our lives that make us happy or unhappy but the way we see them." Personally, something I've relearned throughout my life, and a topic that hits home with me when I remember my time in the `chemo' circle and the other folks with me.My own immediate learning experience happened when the plane landed and I wasn't finished with the book! Had I not messed around for the entire first hour of that flight, and just picked up the book and read it--I would have been done, and satisfied. I can relate to HHC when she was taken to another location during the painting and refurbishing of the Dalai Lama's house, she behaved poorly. She hid under the blanket and did not step out of the room for a few days. On the day she finally stepped out--she met her `cat' friend, but was whisked away the following day, having no time to spend with her new friend. HHC identified that she robbed herself of the opportunity to spend time with her new friend--all over her ridiculous self-pity. Three days of sulking could have been spent with her new friend instead of wasted time hiding under the duvet.Do you believe that every living being strives for happiness and wants to avoid all forms of suffering? And the True Cause of happiness is not from any physical external thing? Deep, isn't it? Well I like the way the Dalai Lama's cat handles these topics, and you will too.I'm compelled to share with you what I learned about True Cause, but instead I will leave that as the title of this document and let you read the book, and discover for yourself the true cause of happiness (literally).Lastly, I'm so enamored with this book because of my own personal experience. The content of these pages ring within my soul. And it's so simple!When I was diagnosed with stage IV cancer and watched the pieces of my life fall away I gave in to the process. I had no choice. I had to deal with the cancer (and everything else in my life that fell apart), but I did have a choice about my attitude toward the battle--and ultimately isn't that the only thing you have control of--your own reaction? So I experienced some loss: my career, relationship, homes, finances, career, and for a while--my health. I made up my mind I would beat the cancer, but if for some reason I didn't make it--the time I had left would be wonderful. And that is how I won my battle.Now, two years and seven months later--I have no sign of disease. I'm back in the thick of my life (a different life) and I thank you, David Michie, for reminding me of the importance of love and compassion and sharing with the world the simplicity of Buddhism and the fact that happiness is right here... as my Grandma would say, "Under your nose."

Bought this after borrowing it from the library, so I can read it multiple times. The cat is purrfectly charming, and his caretakers are interesting, with small lessons on life as you read. An introduction to basic Buddhism, with the cat as "Cat"alyst. Rinpoche - precious one - a nick name I will borrow for my own little beast. The writing and story are quite good, and hold my interest. Each chapter is in itself a complete little story, and together, the stories make the book whole. I am recommending this to all my catty friends, and to those that are looking for something meaningful.I also purchased the "Art of Purring" and the "Power of Meow". Both just as good as this one.
