About the Author
For Elaine N. Marieb, R.N., Ph.D., taking the needs of nursing and other allied health students into account has always been an integral part of her teaching style. Dr. Marieb began her teaching career at Springfield College, where she taught anatomy and physiology to physical education majors. She then joined the faculty of the Biological Science Division of Holyoke Community College in 1969 after receiving her Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. While teaching at Holyoke Community College, Dr. Marieb pursued her nursing education, which culminated in a Master of Science degree with a clinical specialization in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts. This experience, along with continual feedback from health care professionals (including generations of former students taught by Dr. Marieb), has inspired the unique perspective and accessibility for which this book is known. Dr. Marieb’s commitment to students extends beyond teaching and writing. Recognizing the challenges students face, Dr. Marieb contributes to the New Directions Program at Holyoke Community College by funding a staffed drop-in center and by providing several full-tuition scholarships each year for women who are returning to college after a hiatus or attending college for the first time. She also funds the E. N. Marieb Science Research Awards at Mount Holyoke College (which promotes research by undergraduate science majors) and has underwritten renovation and updating of one of the biology labs in Mount Holyoke's Clapp Laboratory. Recognizing the severe national shortage of nursing faculty, Dr. Marieb also underwrites the Nursing Scholars of the Future Grant Program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 1994, Dr. Marieb received the Benefactor Award from the National Council for Resource Development, American Association of Community Colleges, which recognizes her ongoing sponsorship of student scholarships, faculty teaching awards, and other academic contributions to Holyoke Community College. In May 2000, the science building at Holyoke Community College was named in her honor. Dr. Marieb is an active member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Additionally, while actively engaged as an author, Dr. Marieb serves as a consultant for the Benjamin Cummings Interactive Physiology® CD-ROM series. This text— Anatomy & Physiology Coloring Workbook, Tenth Edition—is the latest expression of her commitment to the needs of the students pursuing the study of A&P. When not involved in academic pursuits, Dr. Marieb is a world traveler and has vowed to visit every country on this planet. This book was an excellent educational tool and helped make learning a little bit more fun. This was a book that was required for the nursing program I completed, and I'm really glad that it was. I'm sure there's a newer edition by now, but if anything, it can only be better than this one. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in learning more about anatomy and physiology!
This is perfect for reinforcing the A&P information..especially given that my Prof is using the A&P textbook by the same author 10th ed. (same with corresponding lab). There are exercises that go far beyond 'coloring' that really help. This is a MUST purchase for any A&P takers or for those wanting to solidify concept for whatever reason.
This book is very difficult to learn from on its own. It's probably fine for someone attending an A&P class. However, for my purposes (self-directed learning), it's not good. Diagrams are in the wrong order, information is contradictory, and many complicated concepts are not explained. I have considered purchasing the accompanying textbook, but the reviews for it are less than inspiring.
My daughter needed this as one of her anatomy physiology course. Seems great so far. My 4 stars is because quite a bit of pages are all wrinkled no biggie but 65 dollars should have no wrinkles. It's was shipped with another book that was also wrinkled not as bad as this one.
When I purchased this book I did not realize that it really needs to be used along with the textbook. It is full of information and is or would be good as a supplement to the textbook but is not necessarily good as a standalone book.
This is really not a coloring book at all.... very few items to color. It is more like a study guide to accompany the textbook, but it does not help me at all in the anatomy course that I am currently taking. There are much cheaper and better coloring books available (at 1/4th of the price of this one) for use with anatomy courses. I love the coloring books because I feel they really cement the information into my head, just not this book. It should not be called a "coloring" workbook. I feel like this is false advertising. This book is not worth the cost.
I was sold a “book†that is missing chucks of the book. This wouldn’t even be labeled as “Good†let alone “Fairâ€. They shouldn’t have sold this book at all.
I love this book it helped me pass anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 !!! I had much more fun coloring to learn than stareing at a book or flash cards. I highly recommend if you are trying to learn anatomy.
