I've read many books on day trading. Most cover techniques and psychology for trading in quite good detail, and certainly in more detail than covered here. After all, these "...for Dummies" books are intended to be an overview and cover more breadth than depth. That being said, I find this to be not just an excellent overview as intended, but a real gem for the chapter covering the tax situation traders must deal with. None of the other books I've read have covered this!If you're aspiring to be a day trader full-time, you need to know about Form 3115 and the mark-to-market election, filing 1040ES and paying taxes on estimated income four times a year, and how important good record keeping is for trades and deductions. You most certainly need to talk to a good tax expert or CPA to work through this, but at least after reading this book you'll have a general understanding of the process and what topics to run by any potential tax advisor before you hire them.

Be warned that the language in this book assumes a lot of knowledge about investing and the stock market. Although it is marketed under the "Dummies" brand, it is NOT for a beginner. As a beginning investor - and a fairly intelligent one - most of this book left me scratching my head.

If you don't know what to do or how to day trade this book is good for beginners and even pros. I'm 71, at this age I cant trade fast enough. I'm trading in my 401k and another account and I'm getting ahead of the curve by using what I've read and followed in this book. I love it!

For a person who is just starting out as a "serious" trader, it is good reference book. You can scan through (speed through the book) first just to get familiar with the terms and logic around what trading is all about. Then after you have watched a few youtube videos, looked at sites like "stocktwits or yahoo finance", you can the go back and use this book a a good reference point for definitions/explanations in regards to what trading is all about. The book is essentially one of the only books that I have read that is not too complicated and cryptic. Great job as always.

I'm a self-taught day trader who sits at his desk in his bedroom, wearing his jammies and day trades almost every day and I've read a number of these "how to" books on day trading. This book is one of the two very best books on the subject. The other is "The Complete Guide To DayTrading", by Markus Heitkoetter.

OK book. Day Trading is a big subject and there are so many styles of Day Traders that it probably is difficult to cover the subject. However, aside from the plan ahead, have goals, have a decent computer/internet/software setup, the book was too general for my taste. It did have a few notable moments like when Ms. Loque wrote that anyone who has a great Day Trading system is retired and sailing on their yacht somewhere.

I think my title is really the key to this book. The one thing it conveys to the user besides giving lots of good information for the interested individual is that it's a hard business, you have to put some effort into the setup, and lastly you have to have the initial capital investment to get started. Given the three items above, be realistic with yourself are you going put put your earnings on the line, put in the effort and make it work? That's it, if your thinking of 'having a go' then read this book first, then the other books that are recommended within. This book made me realize, and be honest with myself, that I wouldn't so it made me 50k (the initial starting capital used in the first example).Good luck.

One of the best for the BEGINNER in the stock market, ty for writing it.
